We are pleased to present the new collection from HUF for Spring 2019.
This Spring, HUF looks to 90s-era New York City streetscapes and subcultures to celebrate the brand's roots through Keith Hufnagel's origins.
Evoking NYC's electric-lit nights, the tonal palette suffuses midnight cobalt blues, black and deep jungle greens with energetic colour pops. Big Apple infra-red and taxi-like lemon chrome nod to bright bodega window displays, while faded salmon pink, blue mist and washed yellow capture seedy neon signage of backstreet dives and theatres.
Looking to the city's gritty textures, graffiti walls and overlapping wheatpasted posters, mixed mediums interplay through garment washes and patterns including xeroxed-periodcals in the Fake News and Blacked Out prints. Camouflage and floral motifs applied to premium fabrics signal springtime in Central Park, while bold colour-blocking and oversized logos across contemporary cut outerwear point to retro athletics.
Through HUF's innovative vision, the Spring 2019 Collection bridges NYC nostalgia with contemporary times, capturing the diversity and spirit at the heart of the bustling metropolis.
The Highline floral print is a key feature of this collection, shown here in white on the french terry Highline Pullover Hood. Named for New York's elevated park rail trail, the Highline print also features on a rayon short-sleeve shirt, elastic-waist easy short, Box Logo tee, curved visor cap and socks.
The corduroy Lennox Jacket is a highlight of Delivery 1, shown here in our Canyon Sunset colourway. Based on the classic 50's Type 2 Jacket, this piece has been updated with HUF WORLDWIDE embroidery along the sleeve and a little extra length in the body.
The Bodega Longsleeve tee perfectly sums up some of this collections inspirations, covered in the sorts of hand-painted artwork you would expect to find on the shop-front of the classic New York Bodega. This piece also comes in a bold Aurora Yellow.
The Headlines Short-Sleeve Shirt is another key piece this season pulling together headline text and news-print graphics. Throughout the range you will see a number of nods to New York based news media and references to some of the Trump-era commentary that had appeared in it. The Headlines print also appears on a volley and socks.
The Peak 3.0 Anorak is a clean and simple, lightweight pullover windbreaker with intrigue added in the various pieces of branding added throughout. The white colourway shown here is accompanied by a bold colour-blocked option in Canyon Sunset.
Two key pieces are highlighted here. First, the Hot & Ready Tee with its nod to NYC's numerous pizza joints, including contact details for HUF's New York store. Secondly, the Boulevard Volley features a multi-coloured Triple Triangle embroidery and screen-printed HUF branding, adjusted by a toggle at the back.
Pictured below you'll find the HUF Love Socks and Slides - our homage to the infamous I Love NY tourist tees. This graphic also appears in embroidery on a pullover hood.
